2026 | Short film (2m 39s)
My daughter and I had been toying with the idea for this short film since the summer: a simple story following a young girl as she cartwheels her way across town. The Film Sussex 48-Hour Film Challenge provided the perfect motivation to finally make it. Shot entirely on my iPhone, with ideas evolving as we went, we spent a damp December weekend writing, filming and editing the project against the clock.
Although we didn't win the challenge, the film went on to achieve something even more rewarding; being selected as an Official Selection for the Film Sussex Shorts Film Festival 2026 alongside the winning film, then having it accompany feature screenings at The Depot Cinema for two weeks after the festival had closed.
It was a wonderful family collaboration and a reminder that a simple idea, brought to life with enthusiasm, creativity and a lot of cartwheels, can connect with an audience.
Arsehead is now being submitted other festivals…
